I love this so much! I must admit, I was ready for this to be about reading speed and was ready to come in and say "ME TOOOO," but this was so much sweeter. Such a beautiful connection to have with someone you weren't able to have an extended physical bond with yourself. I have recently given myself permission to read or listen to more than one thing at once, especially as I ease back into fiction reading for pleasure again. I'm glad you're meeting yourself where you are and making space for what you need in this season.

😂 I definitely also physically read more slowly now than I used to, if that helps! But yes, it's been a really beautiful and unexpected connection, and I really love it.

It took me so long to get back to reading for pleasure, and it always makes me so happy to hear when others are able to as well! I missed it so much.

I love this, and the idea of living in the season! That feels like one of those things I've had to learn the hard way and seeing it put so succinctly is like...yes, that. As I told my partners the other day while we struggled to fit the giant thrifted calico critters dollhouses into our rearranged living room - this is just a season!

We are also in a season of giant toys in the living room. Currently a trampoline and climbing toys. It's a lot, but it's also only for now. I keep reminding myself that.

You also never know when it will save your hide! We inadvertently went into the pandemic in a Chicago winter with a 3 year old and a baby - and a pikler triangle, mini trampoline, nugget, doorway pull-up bar swing, and a pole. Were we ever thankful for all that stuff then.

I have no clue if you're wanting more children or not, but there is sweet, sweet freedom in knowing you're done and watching those big pieces phase out: goodbye high chair, learning tower, bucket car seat...
