Strep as an adult is the worst!!! Thank heavens for antibiotics.
Ironic timing - I just got Tea Dragons out of the library for Corinne (a friend had recommended them to me ages ago) so now I'm going to request the Bree Paulsen books!
I'm really grateful we caught it so early! If my son hadn't shown symptoms first, I think my husband and I would have been much more miserable. As it was, my throat had started bothering me (not awful, but enough to notice) and I had the red spots, but I actually tested negative when I went in. The walk-in gave all of us antibiotics regardless, of course, and we're all almost back to normal now.
Something I love about the graphic novels I've been finding (which I think you'll also appreciate) is that so many of them very casually incorporate queer rep. It's just part of the world so there's no conflict around it, and it adds to the coziness and safety of them for me. The Tea Dragon Society and the Garlic books were all like that, and I just adore it.
I'm glad you didn't suffer much! The first time I got it as an adult was a year and a half ago and it felt like the flu sans vaccine - aches, chills, high fever!
I do so very much appreciate that! Have you read Princess Princess Ever After? It's also by her. I can't wait to see the Garlic books.
Your chickadee is delightful (and impressive...so is your embroidery) :)) - and I really enjoyed reading your book recommendations - thank you for your generosity in sharing those thoughts. Sorry you've (all) been sick! I hope all are solidly on the road to full recovery. Happy birthday to your youngest (and birthing day to you).
Oh, also I'm so glad you enjoy the book recs! I'm not always sure if they're very helpful, but I try to share whatever thoughts I have about them in case it helps someone find a great read (or avoid a dud) for them.
Yes, very much enjoy reading your thoughtful reflections on each of them, and I immediately search for some of them on Libby (the source of most of my book loans these days)!
Thank you! We thankfully caught it very early and are all on antibiotics and feeling mostly normal now. We were able to enjoy Oren's party today as a sort of last hurrah visit with my cousin as well, which was lovely. Thursday will be a much quieter day, just a nice dinner at home, which I think is probably best for all of us. 😅
Some of these books have been on my radar and others are new to me and sparking my curiosity. (Tea Dragons?!) Such a pleasure to be part of the list. Thanks for reading and sharing. 🥰
All of the yes to the Tea Dragon Society - if nothing else, I'd recommend that one for the interesting magic and the absolutely beautiful dragons. All three in the series are quick reads with a beautiful story.
And I'm so grateful for your book! It sparked some great connections for me and was an important reminder of how important making time and space for creativity is for me. So thank you!
You are so amazingly talented. The drawing is beautiful and the embroidery is gorgeous!!!!
Thank you, Karri! I've been enjoying stretching those metaphorical muscles again.

I haven't yet, but it's on my list! I'm looking forward to it.
The kids are devouring the Garlic books with lots of cute noises and giggles! (Linnea of course is just looking at the pics)
I love that! Sybil was next to me while I was reading most of the second one, asking me to explain what was going on.

That's where I get most of mine, too!
Libby solidarity!
It's such a great resource!

Sounds like a you has a productive week, it’s so lovely to see what you’ve been creating. The sketch is beautiful and I love your embroidered shorts.
Thank you! They were fun projects.
hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul
And sings the tune without the words
And never stops at all. 🙃
A favourite, for sure.
