About Writing Wilder
This newsletter is a love letter in equal measure to all of the great loves of my life, including my children, my partner, my community, the realm of possibility, the joys of reading and writing, the journey of learning, life, and love, and to my own self; it is a sharing of hope and hurt and healing, and everyday magic.
On most Tuesday mornings, I will share a personal essay; it might reflect on a poem I've written, delve into my writing process, recount a memory, unravel a thought, or explore an idea in progress. My essays often focus on my unlearnings as well as new growth I'm experiencing. Some days I may also share a poem on its own.
At the end of each month, and some mid-months, I will share a roundup of mundane magics, links I loved, and/or books I finished.
I've always been drawn to words, and to creating things. As a creative person, there's a moment - even through the haze of imposter syndrome - when you can clearly see that something you've done is worth sharing; that it is meaningful, beautiful, maybe even necessary.
I've believed I had ideas worth writing for years, with inspiration coming in fits and starts. I've even experienced those magical moments when I knew deep in my bones that someone, somewhere, desired what I had to offer. I've wanted desperately to leave behind something meaningful for my loved ones. What I didn't have was a vehicle for delivery, a reliable method for my words to find a home with those who were ready to receive what I had written. So this is that.
I have introduced a paid subscription option. While I deeply value accessibility and will never place most of my work behind a paywall, I also believe in the value of my time and efforts. Artists of all kinds should be compensated for their work in this capitalist hellscape.
If you're in a position to do so, your consideration of a paid subscription would be immensely appreciated, as it gives me more space to show up here and enables me to extend similar support to fellow writers.
About the author
I am a queer, chronically ill, late-realized autistic and ADHD human. I am a poet/writer. I am a married parent of two incredible tiny humans, one beautiful dog, two adorable cats, and numerous plants. I am a practicer of stitchcraft and, occasionally, a knit designer. Also: an aspiring Hobbit.
I grew up evangelicalish and conservative and have since deconstructed those beliefs. I am deeply committed to social justice, inclusivity, and sustainability. My writing reflects these aspects of my identity, and I hope you will feel welcome here.
